Being in charge of a party means taking on different responsibilities. Regardless of whether it is for someone's birthday, anniversary, engagement or simply a get together for old time's sake, there are a few key things to remember before throwing your shindig.
#1: Budget
You can't throw a party without knowing how much you'll need to spend. Write a short list of what will be needed for the party and an estimate as to how much it could cost. Next, start shopping around in order to compare prices for venues and catering services. Save money wherever possible, such as with invitations. Instead of spending money on invites, use an email blast, which is much faster and reaches a wider group of people all at once.
#2: Pick a Venue
Before throwing a party, you have to figure out where you're going to have it.
Choose the appropriate venue not only for the purpose of the event but according to how many guests you plan on having. If it is going to be at someone's house, make sure there will be enough room for everyone and don't forget to arrange for extra chairs.Thinking of having your party at a restaurant? Then plan on making reservations, especially if the place you've chosen requires one well in advance. Failing to do so could mean losing your space on the chosen day and time frame, which will leave you and your guests with nowhere to celebrate.
#3: Follow Up
Because not everyone follows the request for an RSVP, save yourself future grief by setting aside some time to call those that have not responded at least 1-2 weeks before the day of the party.
Keep a master list of everyone you've invited and cross out those that won't be able to make it. Make sure to account for your guests' dates as well when it comes to headcount.#4: Food & Drink
Think about how you plan on handling the food and drinks. Will you request that guests bring their own(potluck style)or will you need to arrange for catering services? Additionally, think about those with food allergies or with special dietary needs (vegetarians, vegans, etc.).
#5: Driving Directions
Once you've booked the venue and other details, make sure that everyone invited knows how to get to the party. Send out an email blast with driving directions and don't forget details, such as parking information. Don't forget to also include contact numbers in case anyone gets lost.
#6: Be Unique
Do something out of the box, such as using a San Diego photo booth rental to capture the experience. No one can resist stepping into one of these photo booths and letting the good times roll. Your guests will be able to use the photo boothto print, customize and even create an album that everyone can sign.
